The perfect flower was the inspiration behind this enchanting miniature figurine, each one reflecting the glowing colours of their namesake bloom. But each one of these lovely blossoms also holds a secret - a beautiful gold-plated floral pendant hidden in the base of the figurine and just waiting to be discovered. Miniature figurines have a charm that is all their own, an inherent daintiness that demands a high degree of skill on the part of a sculptor. Capturing detail on a tiny scale... getting the form and proportion exactly right... keeping a sense of movement and life. It is often said, that if there is nothing in the picture to indicate scale, a miniature figurine should be indistinguishable from a full-sized one. 'Secrets of the Flowers' are crafted in Coalport fine bone china and pay tribute to the highest standards of skill and artistry. Take 'Poppy': her glorious scarlet skirts are magnificently full, swirling into motion at one side and revealing a billowing froth of white petticoats. In one hand she holds her namesake hand-made flower, its vivid vermilion hue contrasting with the lacy white collar of her gown and the vivid purple of her hat. Then turn to her pretty companion. 'Iris' is a vision in cool blue and azure shades. Her white flower-sprigged overdress is parted to reveal gentian blue skirts and across one pale arm lies a sheaf of slender flag-flowers, the soft green of their slim stems enhancing the colour of the massed blooms. Both 'Poppy' and 'Iris' are highly detailed works of art in their own right, exquisitely hand-painted, delicately embellished with 22-carat gold and featuring hand-made flowers. But they also complement each other perfectly as a pair: the flaming scarlet flamboyance of one setting off the cool blue elegance of the other. But that's not all. Within the circular base of the figurine there lies concealed a hidden treasure. Lift her to reveal a hidden compartment that holds a wonderful floral pendant, representing the flower for which the figurine is named and crafted in quality English pewter. This is then gold-plated before being hand-painted by skilled artists and suspended from a gold-plated chain. Each perfectly petite figurine stands a dainty 3"/8cm approximately in height.
